The BBC show's cast and producers are preparing to return to Poplar.Call The Midwife is set to commence filming for season 13! Taking to social media on Thursday, the show's official Facebook account shared a new photo of the cast as they reunited in London. Revealing that the stars are gearing up for their return to Poplar, the caption explained:
Since our tumultuous season 12 finished airing at the end of February, our intrepid team have been grabbing the chance to rest up, relax, or else fit in some quick theatrical work before filming commences again!
"But today marked an important celebration – our team gathered at a plush venue in the west end of London for their first get-together before the cameras roll again and the scripts drop through the doors. We hear the producers organised the team a wonderful meal - there were speeches, lots of laughter and many reunion hugs!!" Giving fans an update on season 13, the caption continued: "Meanwhile, the costume fittings have begun, locations are being scouted, sets painted – all in readiness for our brand new collection of stories!! The countdown begins!! Call the Midwife returns with a new Christmas Special, and series 13 in 2024."
Sparking a reaction from fans, many were quick to comment on the exciting news. "That's put a much-needed smile on my face," replied one. "Can't wait to see you all back on my TV screen again! Sundays aren't the same without you all…" commented another. Meanwhile, a third penned: "Love the show, well done to all the team and all the actors and writers you all do a fantastic job, thank you." As fans will remember, the season 12 finale of Call the Midwife saw Helen George's character Trixie Franklin finally tie the knot with her fiancé Matthew Aylward, played by Olly Rix. We can't wait to see what's in store for the newlyweds in season 13, and by the looks of it, we might not have to wait too long to find out.
