Nightmare on Elm Street Star Pitches a Halloween Ends-Esque Final Film

A Nightmare on Elm Street's original hero, Heather Langenkamp, opens up about her desire to face off against Freddy Krueger one final time. Original A Nightmare on Elm Street star Heather Langenkamp wants to face off against Freddy Krueger one last time in a manner akin to the current Halloween movies.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the subject of a final confrontation between Langenkamp's Nancy Thompson and Robert Englund's iconic undead serial killer came up. Langenkamp responded, "Gosh, I'd love to see a future in that. I've been really watching the Halloween saga that’s been out, and I love watching Jamie Lee Curtis get to play that part." She continued, "You know, this age, where I think we have so much to give to those storylines, but yeah, I wish I was in control of that, but, unfortunately, it's one of those Hollywood very complicated things.

Langenkamp became a household name after appearing as Nancy Thompson in 1984's A Nightmare on Elm Street. That film also saw Johnny Depp field one of his earliest roles playing her ill-fated boyfriend. She would reprise the role of Nancy for 1987's A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors, and returned as a fictionalized version of herself stalked in real-life by Freddy in the franchise's meta-minded 1994 entry, Wes Craven's New Nightmare.

Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum has previously opened up about his own desire to see Englund return to the franchise as Freddy. "I could make him come back. I can get anyone back," Blum stated. "Ellen Burstyn was 87, and I got her back in The Exorcist." When asked about Englund's age, which the actor has attributed to his stepping away from the role, Blum simply responded, "Yeah, 75 -he's young!"
