With Bull finished on CBS all eyes are on whether Michael Weatherly will return to NCIS in Season 20. Could it happen any time soon?
When there a new season of our favorite shows, one of the first questions is always about returning characters. We love to see former characters return, and one of those is Tony DiNozzo.Michael Weatherly left the series at the end of Season 13. Tony learned that Ziva had been killed and left behind their daughter. He made the decision to leave the team to raise his daughter although it was soon clear that he knew Ziva was nOt really dead. The family got some sort of closure later on in the series although we didn Ot get to see Tony back on our screens.After leaving NCIS Weatherly went on to star in Bull. Now that series is over will there be time for him to return to his previous role?When talking to TVLine showrunner Steve Binder shared that the door is open. However its unlikely that it will happen this season.
Weatherly left NCIS because he was ready to take a break from acting on big network TV shows. Yet the lead in Bull landed in his lap, and he could nOt say no. Now that series has come to an end and Binder believes that Weatherly needs to take some time off to be with his family.That being said if he wants to return to NCIS the door is open. Like with any character return everyone would need to see the right storyline for Tonys return. It’s highly unlikely Tony would ever choose to come back to the team full time but we could see him back to help with a case. Or maybe a case can take some of the team members to France where Tony and Ziva currently are.
