Umbrella Academy star lands next lead movie role in new horror

 The Umbrella Academy star Marin Ireland has landed her next role, with the actress set to star in horror film Birth/Rebirth.






As reported by Deadline, the actress has joined the principal cast of the film, which is being produced by streaming service Shudder.Birth/Rebirth, the debut feature from writer-director Laura Moss, is inspired by Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, with the story reportedly incorporating many of the novel's themes.


Ireland will play a morgue technician who forms a relationship with a mother (Judy Reyes) and child (AJ Lister). Starring alongside Ireland and Reyes will be Breeda Wool and Monique Gabriela Curnen.Moss, who is co-writing the script with Brendan J O'Brien, said of the project: "I am over the moon to be working with Shudder to finally bring this project to life. It's been gestating for a long time and I'm so proud of the cast and crew we have assembled to make it happen."


Craig Engler, the general manager of Shudder, was delighted to secure Moss for the streaming platform's original film, saying: "We're thrilled to be working with Laura and their amazing cast on this unique, wrenching take on a classic tale. Birth/Rebirth is a fantastic blend of psychological and body horror, sure to electrify our members.Ireland, who has also starred in The Miseducation of Cameron Post and Amazon's Sneaky Pete, plays Sissy Cooper on The Umbrella Academy, which depicts the exploits of adopted sibling superheroes.
