Timothée Chalamet vents: "It's hard to be alive" in an era defined by social media

The young actor left his opinion on social networks in a thoughtful message.

At a press conference at the Venice Film Festival, 26-year-old actor Timothée Chalamet spoke about the topic of social media and how these platforms can be “intensely judgmental”. “To be young today, or at another time – but I can speak for my generation – is to be intensely judged. I can't imagine what it's like to grow up without the attacks on social media.”

In the reflective message, the actor ends up emphasizing his opinion on the importance of films to portray various social problems. “I think social breakdown is in the air – or smacks of it – and, without being pretentious, that's why movies are important, that's the role of the artist... to highlight what's happening."

According to Page Six , the premiere of Luca Guadagnino 's film was widely applauded at the Film Festival. The horror film, which takes place in the United States in the era of Ronald Reagan, addresses issues such as cannibalism and portrays characters who live on the fringes of society.
