The Mandalorian Movie? That’s Exactly What Star Wars Needs

With so much uncertainty regarding what the next Star Wars movie will be a Mandalorian film is perhaps exactly what the saga needs.

Pedro Pascal has demonstrated interest in a The Mandalorian movie and that is exactly what Star Wars needs for its theatrical future. The first ever Star Wars live action TV show The Mandalorian was the flagship title for Disney+ upon the streaming services launching. Almost three years later  The Mandalorian is regarded by many as one of the best Star Wars content released under Disney which is why it should serve as north for the franchise not only on Disney+ but also on the big screen.

While Star Wars had already built a TV legacy thanks to Star Wars Clone Wars Star Wars The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels it was only after Disney+ that Lucasfilm was able to dive into live action shows. The Mandalorian started as a very experimental project and it combined traditional Star Wars movie tricks like puppets and costumes with state of the art movie making techniques such as the Volume. Currently produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Rick Famuyiwa The Mandalorian evolved from a self contained story about a bounty hunter wandering in the galaxy to a lore-heavy Star Wars show with major implications for the saga.

The Mandalorians success naturally led not only to more live action Star Wars shows but also to more stories set in that specific time period. The Mandalorian season 2 The Book of Boba Fett and the upcoming Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew are all set around eight years after Return of the Jedi thus forming what is being called  the Mandoverse. The time period and the fact they are all produced by Jon Favreau is not the only link between those shows as The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka serve as direct The Mandalorian spinoffs that only came to be after specific episodes of The Mandalorian season 2.

With such an established and successful franchise on TV the Mandoverse would eventually start to influence the Star Wars movies. When asked if he would be on board with a Mandalorian theatrical movie to wrap up the show  via Fandang Producer Rick Famuyiwa said he does not know anything about it. Pedro Pascal however said that it is a great idea and if it is nOt a conversation already it will be now. More than wrapping up the Mandoverse a Mandalorian movie would help Star Wars return to the big screen with characters that are already loved by the audience thus allowing the next Star Wars movie to build up on something that it is already established.
