A new report has shed light on Roman Reigns’ future as WWE Universal Champion as the dominant star heads into his third year as champion.
Roman Reigns wasted no time in making his mark when he made his shock return to WWE at SummerSlam 2020 after a short hiatus due to the pandemic. Reigns stunned the world when he appeared at the end of that show attacking both Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt.
Just one week later, Reigns was in the main event of Payback with both Strowman and Wyatt with The Tribal Chief overcoming both of them to win the Universal Title. Roman Reigns had been forced to relinquish the same belt back in 2018 when he took time off to battle leukemia. The likes of John Cena, Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, and Drew McIntyre to name a few are some of the stars who have since tried and failed to unseat Reigns as champion as The Tribal Chief has stormed past 1,000 days since he was last pinned in the company.
Now WrestlingNews.co has reported that a source familiar with WWE’s creative process has told them that there are currently no plans for Roman Reigns to drop his championship in 2022. The next time Reigns will defend his titles is at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia in November and he will not compete at the Extreme Rules event on October 8th.The belief is still that Roman Reigns could be on a collision course for the ages against The Rock at WrestleMania 39 in California.
