Apple TV+ are creating more original content to add to its line up starting with the likely success Dark Matter. Based on the 2016 novel of the same name Dark Matter follows Jason, a physicist and family man whose life has changed when he is flung into an alternate reality of his life. Full of mystery intrigue and sci fi elements Dark Matter promises a unique plot as well as compelling performances from seasoned actors Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly who will play married couple Jason and Daniela.
Jennifer Connelly has been known recently for her morally grey role in Snowpiercer a graphic novel TV adaption so it is no surprise she is delving back into the world of TV. Joel Edgerton however has been showing his talent behind the screens with plenty of producing and directing credits stacking up in the last decade. The Gift and Boy Erased are examples where he has garnered acting, writing producing and directing credits. Again, it’s no shock to see Edgerton executive producing this adaption as well.
Dark Matter deals with two different realities whilst showcasing themes of family and choice. Marked 4.12/5 on Goodreads out of over 350,000 reviews its clear the book is a readers delight as well as a critics. It will also comfort book fans to know the author Blake Crouch will serve as showrunner of the Apple series.
Matt Tolmach is also set to executive produce the new series. With previous credits producing Sonys Spiderman franchise Tolmach has the experience of dealing with big budgets and big expectations for audiences. As Dark Matter is based on a book, fans are likely to expect a stellar adaption.
