Is the lack of Outlander panel at NYCC 2022 a concern?

At the time of writing this NYCC 2022 has not announced an Outlander panel. Is this a concern for Outlander Season 7 arriving next year?

The Outlander EPs had previously mentioned a late 2022/early 2023 premiere for Season 7. That was even with it being 16 episodes long, which would have suggested the season would be split in two. When Sam Heughan shared that filming would continue until around February or March 2023 there were questions about what this would mean about the Season 7 premiere. Would it be held until later in 2023 or would we still be able to get the first eight episodes in early 2023? With good planning, we could still get a split season. So, we were expecting a NYCC 2022 panel. That does not look like its going to happen, which has us worried about what this means for when Season 7 could arrive.

Is Outlander at NYCC 2022?

At the time of writing this, NYCC 2022 has not announced a panel. Its disappointing as the series has had a panel for the last three New York Comic Cons. The previous one was partly virtual for Caitriona Balfe but we still got a panel. It makes sense to do a panel at New Yorks convention. This is a major convention for TV especially those that come in the midseason. SDCC is a good time for the fall shows. We were hoping to see Sam Heughan Caitriona Balfe and others on stage to talk Season 7 and even bring us some sneak peeks of what to expect.

The lack of panel does not necessarily mean there would not be a season. Not every show is going to be able to get a panel. There are a lot of factors at play including getting all the cast and important members of the team to New York. With so many potential shows that could be featured there has to be a limit. With getting a panel at three conventions its possible that ReedPop which runs NYCC has decided to step back from the time traveling drama this year.

We’re still holding out for early 2023 and we are still holding out for a split season. Only time will tell at this point.
