Chicago PD season 10 premiere synopsis teases a brand-new conflict between Jay Halstead and Hank Voight. The Intelligence team is coming off of a busy season 9, full of personal and professional changes. When Chicago PD returns for its monumental 10th year however work would not stop for Voight and his carefully handpicked squad.
It has been a busy off-season for the One Chicago series. For starters, it will see a new regular cast member in Benjamin Levy Aguilar playing Officer Dante Torres. But the biggest news coming out about the show is Jesse Lee Soffer exiting Chicago PD in the middle of season 10. Since then all eyes have been on Halsteads remaining story as it will inform viewers how the beloved character will be written out of the police procedural and from the looks of it Halstead would not be starting the year on a high note. While the brief does not say what the new issue is about chances are that it still has something to do with the death of Anna. Its worth remembering that towards the end of Chicago PD season 9 when she was starting to become very paranoid Voight was adamant about keeping Anna safe. Upton however was not a fan of this plan especially after Anna killed Escano. Halstead however was with his boss on this but Upton ultimately ended up killing Anna when the CI shot Voight. Granted that Upton was only looking out for her boss this could be the root cause of the trios new problem. It's worth noting their dynamic has been unstable ever since the accidental killing of the criminal Roy in the season 8 finale.
Based on this, Halstead will once again find himself in the middle of a tense relationship between Voight and his new wife. Understandably it would be a difficult place for him, especially since Voight has just started to trust him after almost a decade of working together. Whats curious now is how this can potentially set up Soffers exit from Chicago PD. NBC has been mum on the matter ever since it was reported. But since the actor would not even be finishing the rest of season 10 it means that every episode leading to his final one needs to have something to do with his impending departure from Intelligence.
