The Flash Just Discovered a Speedster More Powerful Than Wally West

The Flash Family's final confrontation with the Fraction revealed a speedster more powerful than even Wally West.

Wally West has always been one of the most prominent speedsters within the DCU, and on several occasions has been confirmed as being the fastest-known speedster. All that changed in The Flash #796 (by Jeremy Adams, Roger Cruz, George Hambadais, Fernando Pasarin, Wellington Diaz, Oclair Albert, Luis Guerrero, Matt Herms, Pete Pantazis, and Rob Leigh) though. During the final moments of the One-Minute War, Wally confronted the leader of the Fraction, Admiral Vel. In the process, it was revealed that not only was Vel an organic conduit of the Speed Force like the rest of the Flash Family, but that he might even be stronger than Wally.

This is a game changer, especially when one remembers that Wally's connection to the Speed Force transcends what most speedsters possess. He can never truly be cut off from it because he taps into its power directly. If Vel is stronger than Wally, then this means his connection to the Speed Force is greater. This would make him the most dangerous enemy the Flash Family has ever encountered.

As revealed in "Chapter One: Past" from The Flash One-Minute War Special #1 (by Jeremy Adams, Fernando Pasarin, Matt Ryan, Jason Paz, Matt Herms, and Rob Leigh), Vel Anthro was the first test subject in an effort to use technology to harness the power of the Speed Force. While it was always assumed that Vel was just enhanced by the harness he wore, it was revealed that he had been turned into a living conduit by the Speed Force. More over, based on Wally's brief assessment of Vel, he might very well be stronger than Wally is.

First, it is important to remember that there have been multiple times when Wally has been described as the fastest speedster in the DC multiverse. Of course, as new things about the multiverse are discovered, the sustainability of this statement becomes questionable, and now it seems that Wally has been knocked off the pedestal. What's truly troubling here is how dangerous Vel becomes as a consequence. Wally has demonstrated powers that no other speedster has specifically because he "mainlines" his power directly from the Speed Force. With this tether, he has pulled off some incredible feats. This has included sharing and taking the speed of others, to ceasing the Earth's movement, and even outracing Black Racer one time by traveling to a place beyond reality where even death could not reach.
