Law & Order: Organized Crime is getting yet another new showrunner. Created by Dick Wolf, the Law & Order: SVU spinoff series sees the return of Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler to the NYPD after suffering a tragic personal loss. Determined to not let what happened to his family happen to others, Stabler re-joins the task force to take on the country's most dangerous criminals. Premiering in 2021, the police procedural drama is currently in the midst of season 3 on NBC.
With only a few episodes remaining in season 3, Law & Order: Organized Crime is getting yet another new showrunner, per Deadline. Law & Order: SVU’s David Graziano will take over as showrunner for the remainder of the season, with current showrunner Sean Jablonski stepping down. The parting was reportedly due to creative differences.
Law & Order: Organized Crime is no stranger to changing showrunners. The series has experienced a rotating door of creatives throughout its time on air. Jablonski's exit makes him the fourth to step down from the role since the series premiere in 2021. He had only joined Organized Crime in September 2022, replacing former showrunner Bryan Golubof. Golubof, in turn, had joined the show as a replacement to interim showrunner Barry O’Brien. O'Brien was the first to step up as showrunner after the original, Ilene Chaiken, had left the series.
While the exact reason behind the showrunner switch-up on Law & Order: Organized Crime can only be speculated on, it's clear that creative differences have played a large role in the continuous exits. Chaiken, who launched the series and was on board as showrunner for season 1 and part of season 2, was new to the Law & Order franchise, perhaps explaining her eventual departure. However, with Graziano taking over as the fifth, and possibly final, showrunner of the series, his background as showrunner for Law & Order: SVU suggests he may be the one to stick.
