While Robby has always had Kenny's best interests at heart, a different Miyagi Do character would be a better mentor for the young Cobra Kai member.
Kenny deserves a shot at redemption in Cobra Kai season 6, and Robby may not be the only Miyagi Do character who can help him. When he first appeared in Cobra Kai season 4 as a new student at West Valley Middle School, Kenny was the prime bullying target for Anthony LaRusso and his friends. However, Kenny later flipped his script but training karate under Robby's guidance and using martial skills to get his bullies suspended from school. Unfortunately, Cobra Kai's questionable teachings eventually corrupted him and tipped him off to the dark towards the end of Cobra Kai season 4.
Cobra Kai season 5 marks the inception of Kenny's villain arc, where he switches roles with Anthony and becomes his bully. Under Terry Silver's guidance, he starts falling deeper into this rabbit hole and even uses Silver's illegal "Silver Bullet" move to overpower Hawk in the Sekai Taikai tryouts. Throughout Cobra Kai season 5, Robby tries his best to help him understand that he is on the wrong path, but Kenny refuses to listen. Robby's failure to rescue Kenny from Silver's self-destructive ways proves that only Hawk can now help him find redemption in Cobra Kai season 6.
Unlike Robby, Hawk has a lot in common with Cobra Kai's Kenny. In Cobra Kai's initial seasons, Hawk, too, was regularly bullied and looked down upon by his peers. Like Kenny, he also struggled with self-confidence until he joined Cobra Kai and trained under Kreese and Lawrence. While learning Cobra Kai karate helped him gain confidence and even stand up against his bullies, it turned him into something far more stoic and savage than he had anticipated. Hawk hit rock bottom when he started using the way of the fist against his own friends, and that is when he realized that he should not blindly follow everything his Sensei teaches him.
Hawk has come a long way since then and has learned to blend the teachings of Cobra Kai with Mr Miyagi's defensive karate style. Given how, Kenny had a similar karate journey and only turned into Cobra Kai's season 5 antagonist because of Silver's influence, Hawk may be the only one who can truly understand what he is going through. Hawk knows what it is like to be blinded by Cobra Kai's "no mercy" credo and understands the importance of stepping back and grounding himself with Mr. Miyagi philosophies. Therefore, with his experience of being on the same downward spiral and turning things around, Hawk can mentor Kenny and help him find peace.
Hawk loses to Kenny during the Sekai Taikai tryouts but owns up to his defeat instead of getting infuriated by it. Even when Kyler Park tries mocking him by calling him "faux-hawk" in Cobra Kai season 5's ending showdown, Hawk does not let the insult get inside his head. His loss against Kenny proves he is not the same ruthless Cobra Kai fighter who mindlessly picked fights with anyone who bothered him. The Sekai Taikai tryouts fight might have seemed like a mismatch, and even its outcome may have been a letdown considering how Hawk was the All-Valley champion in season 4 when Kenny had only started his training.
