In a red carpet interview with Variety Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney revealed that working with co star Dakota Johnson on the forthcoming Sony Marvel film Madame Web made her extremely nervous.Sweeney revealed that she has been a fan of Johnsons for years having disobeyed her parents to watch Fifty Shades of Grey in high school. I am a huge fan of her she said. She has so hot. On the carpet at the 11th Annual LACMA Art + Film Gala when asked if she had told this to her co star Sweeney laughed. No But Dakota you are hot and I loved working with you.
Johnson will be playing the lead role of Cassandra Madame Web in the Sony film expected to hit theaters in February 2024. Plot details for the film are still very much under wraps including any information about Sydney Sweeneys exact role in the film. There have been two characters named Madame Web in the Marvel Comics canon and any others which have appeared in various iterations of Marvels multiverse. In most appearances the character is portrayed as an ally of Spider-Man.
Madame Web first appeared in a 1980 issue of Amazing Spider Man where she was created by Dennis O Neil and John Romita Jr Cassandra Webb is an old woman suffering from a severe neuromuscular disease that causes her to be blind and paralyzed. She is kept alive by an elaborate life support system but despite her paralysis Madame Web is a powerful mutant telepath like Professor Charles Xavier or Jean Grey and a clairvoyant. The film is part of Sony’s ongoing development of comic book films involving Spider Man characters, like the Venom movies starring Tom Hardy Morbius starring Jared Leo and Kraven the Hunter starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Russell Crowe.
Sydney Sweeny was also recently attached to lead another Sony feature a Barbarella film following in the footsteps of the original 1968 space opera starring Jane Fonda which was adapted from French writer and illustrator Jean Claude Forests comic series. The film remains in early development with no director, producer or writer currently attached.
