Season one of the international hit Netflix Original Young Royals premiered on July 1 2021 and it was an instant hit with the general public and LGBTQ+ community, leading to a huge fan base. The six episode Swedish drama Young Royals follows a closeted Prince Wilhelm Edvin Ryding as he finds himself sole heir to the throne after his brothers death. He is forced into a new boarding school called Hillerska after a viral video of him fighting in a nightclub does the rounds. As he navigates his royal duties and teenage lifes messiness the story continues.
On September 22 two months after the first seasons premiere Netflix officially confirmed the renewal of Young Royals for season 2. Netflixs LGBTQ+ account Most also tweeted Young Royals Season 2, lets goooooo alongside a video of the cast confirming that Young Royals is coming back for a second season. The streaming service has not announced an official release date yet. According to predictions, fans will have to wait until mid-2022 for Season 2.
All the series regulars are expected to return except for Ivar Forslin. Ivar Forsin, who plays Prince Wilhelms older brother Crown Prince Erik died in a car accident in episode three. Other cast members include Edvin Ryding as Prince Wilhelm Omar Rudberg as Simon Malte Gårdinger as August Frida Argento as Sara Nikita Uggla as Felice Pernilla August as Queen Kristina of Sweden Nathalie Varli as Madison and Carmen Gloria Pérez as Linda. Considering its a coming of age show Netflix is likely to add some fresh faces too as it always does.
