The Punisher is Reliving His Worst Nightmare - With a Horrific Twist

 Punisher  6 has Frank Castle enduring the worst fate possible which led to him reliving a defining moment in a remix of his past.

In Marvels new Punisher run, Frank Castle has slowly been realizing he made a deal with the wrong devil. As much as the Hand empowered him with an army of ninjas and supernatural powers to reset order in the world Franks been struggling over the High Priestess tyrannical ways. He did not like how she tortured his soldiers which culminated in a civil war although when Frank tried to flee his resurrected wife Maria began dying again.

Thus  Frank had to return to the Japanese Citadel to serve his masters all so Maria could live in this warped shell. Admittedly, seeing Frank in this mental and physical prison felt like karma for all his sins since childhood but it still painted a very human sympathetic figure  especially with his innocent wife suffering.

 Unfortunately things just go worse for Frank in Punisher  6  Jason Aaron Jesús Saiz Paul Azaceta Dave   and VCs Cory Petit as he had to relive his worst nightmare but with a very sadistic remix.In this story Frank opted to stay with the Hand once he could be reunited with Maria and gain the semblance of family and paradise he lost when his loved ones were gunned down. He also entertained the idea of his kids being resurrected too  as Maria wanted her family back although the book kept it vague if Frank really pushed forward on this. Eventually Frank got sidetracked with the war against Ares, who was wearing his skull symbol and trying to get Frank to become liberated transforming into his old Punisher self again.

Ironically as they fought yet another brutal battle Ares realized Frank was no match. He thought he could save Frank and unleash the true Punisher within but the God of War found a mere shell of the man he respected someone he felt the Hand emasculated and weakened. As such he battered and left Frank for dead. Luckily  the Priestess found and revived Frank all before admitting the procedure to bring his children back was not working.
