According to Comic Natalie, the beloved anime franchise is set to prominently feature in the promotional material for the upcoming championships. There will be a special collaboration video aired ahead of the tournament, advertisements displayed at Hibiya Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line from Sept. 19 to Oct. 6 and a plethora of Spy x Family content showcased during the table tennis World Championship itself, which will be played from Sept. 30 to Oct. 9. The adorable Anya seems to be the main focus of the advertising campaign, and images of her dressed in her own pink-and-blue table tennis uniform have already been released.
The ongoing and beloved Spy x Family manga by Tatsuya Endo was first published in Shueisha's Shōnen Jump+ in March 2019 and so far, it has produced nine volumes worth of content. The story follows Anya, a young child with the power to read other people's minds, as she is adopted by a super spy, Loid Forger, as part of a plan to ensure world peace. Spy x Family is packed with moments of intense action and brilliant intrigue; however, the narrative also showcases wholesome and loving moments between Anya and her new father. Over 21 million copies of Endo's manga are in circulation around the world.
The anime adaptation of Spy x Family by CloverWorks (My Dress-Up Darling) and Wit Studio (Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song) premiered its first cour back in April and the show quickly became one of the big breakout hits of the spring 2022 anime season, bringing a myriad of new fans to the franchise. The anime is directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi (Rurouni Kenshin) and stars Atsumi Tanezaki (Fruits Basket) as Anya and Takuya Eguchi (Tokyo Revengers) as Loid. The second part of Spy x Family is scheduled to debut on Oct. 1.
