The teen flick Do Revenge is finally streaming on Netflix. The film stars Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke as two teen girls who decide to come together and help each other get even with their enemies.
You might recognize Mendes from her role as Veronica Lodge in The CW’s popular teen series Riverdale. Hawke is best known for her role as fan-favorite character Robin Buckley in the hit Netflix original series Stranger Things. Other cast members include Euphoria‘s Austin Abrams, Alisha Boe, Talia Ryder, Paris Berelc, Outer Banks star Jonathan Daviss, Ava Capri, Maia Reficco, Rish Shah, Sophie Turner, and Dynasty‘s Eliza Bennett.The comedy film was directed by Someone Great writer/director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and co-written by Robinson and her longtime collaborator, Celeste Ballard. Unlike most Netflix movies, Do Revenge is not based on a book. However, the movie’s plot is inspired by the 1951 psychological thriller Strangers on a Train by Alfred Hitchcock, which is based on a book.
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson spoke with Elle Magazine on July 20 and said that the story initially took place in Los Angeles, California, but was changed to Miami, Florida after a rewrite.
While watching the movie, you’ll see landmarks and items that show that the film is set in Florida. For example, in the first couple of seconds of the film, a corvette is shown with a Florida license plate. Later, Hawke’s character visits a tennis camp in Palm Beach, which is a town in Florida. Lastly, there are tons of palm trees shown throughout the film. If you’re not aware, palm trees grow naturally all over Florida.
