One Chicago: Kara Killmer is ‘shocked’ by Jesse Lee Soffer exit

It’s been a few since Jesse Lee Soffer confirmed that he would be leaving Chicago PD but the waves are still being felt throughout the rest of the franchise. Several of his co stars have hopped on Twitter and Instagram to voice their sadness including his onscreen wife Tracy Spiridakos, and his screen sibling, Nick Gehlfuss.

The reactions just keep coming, however. Chicago Fire star Kara Killmer spoke to Today about the Soffer departure and she admitted to being just as  shocked as the fans when she found out.He has done such a great job with that character Killmer told the publication.  I got to do a one on scene when I first started and he has always been lovely to me. He does such good work. She has one of the many performers who have crossed paths with Soffer during the crossover events and fans are, understandably hoping that we will get to see the actor in one more before he leaves.

There were plans of a crossover during last season, but scheduling conflicts and the fallout of the COVID pandemic led to the showrunners of each show deciding to delay it. There has not been talk about when the crossover event will occur but Soffer has confirmed that he will be present for at least a chunk of PD season 10.

Killmer knows all too well the repercussions of a departing cast member. Her character Brett is in a state of flux because her boyfriend Matt Casey  Jesse Spencer decided to up and leave during the middle of Fire season 10. He returned for the finale but it remains to be seen how the show will handle his long term absence.
