The demon behind the assassins of the Hand is orchestrating a brutal showdown between Marvels most violent characters Wolverin and the Punisher.
The two most violent Marvel characters, Wolverine and the Punisher are headed towards a bloody showdown. Both Logan and Frank Castle have unfinished business with a demonic creature called the Beast worshiped by the sect of assassins known as the Hand which means that it would not take long before Wolverine and the Punisher collide in what promises to be the most brutal battle in Marvel history.
The Beast was introduced by Frank Miller and Bill Sienkiewicz in their iconic miniseries Elektra Assassin. The story revealed the origins of the Hand and their demonic worship of an otherworldly creature that bestowed upon them magical powers such as the ability to resurrect. More recently the Beast became a prominent feature in Punisher when Frank Castle was recruited by the Hand to be their High Slayer the last in a long line of Fists of the Beast a holy killer who is the chosen representative of the demon on Earth.
The Punisher accepted in exchange for the resurrection of his wife Maria hoping to use the resources of the Hand to end his war on crime once and for all. However its clear that there is a high price to pay and Franks dealings with the demonic cult have already put him on a collision course with other heroes including Daredevil. Wolverine will likely be next.
During the X of Swords crossover Logan discovered that a dimensional breach had caused the Hand to become closer to its demonic patron the Beast. As a result the legendary swordsmith Muramasa was kidnapped and forced to forge two new blades in Hell to be used as gifts in a wedding between the Beasts daughter the Hellbride and his lieutenant. However Wolverine and the Arakkii mutant Solem killed the lieutenant and stole the swords. In Wolverine 24 by Benjamin Percy Federico Vicentini and Frank D Armata the Hellbride takes advantage of the chaos caused by the awakening of the Progenitor Celestial to run away from her father and invade Earth seeking revenge against Wolverine and Solem.
